MHP Reckless

THE PROMISE

On MHP’s website they claim the Reckless is “an Informed Choice Certified, fully-loaded, clinically dosed, pre-workout formula”. We feel that the term “clinically dosed” is used a bit loosely here, as some of the ingredients are really under dosed but we will get to that later.

THE LABEL FOR DUMMIES

MHP Reckless

First look at the label can be quite overwhelming due to the amount of ingredients listed. MHP used 3 matrixes here and the dosage for each ingredient in the matrix, which is a good thing for us. Let’s to a run down of all the ingredients.

Intense Energy, Focus & Concentration Activators (Total Caffeine: 195 mg) 488 mg – Yerba Mate (leaf) 150 mg, Caffeine Anhydrous 150mg, Sensoril Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) 63mg,    NeuroFactor 50 mg, L-Theanine 50mg, Theacrine (as TeaCrine) 25mg – The Yerba Mate and Caffeine Anhydrous are the main source of caffeine in this matrix, which adds up to just under 200 mg total. Kind of a low dose for our standarts. Sensoril Ashwagandha is known to reduce stress levels and even enhance endurance and increase muscle strength, but the problem is that MHP only put 63 mg of it, and studies have shown that the effective dose is 300-600 mg which makes it way below the clinical dose. The rest of the ingredients are also known to be focus-enhancing but again, the doses of all of them are pretty low.

Elite Strength, Power & Endurance Complex 2,125m – Beta-Alanine (as CarnoSyn®) 800mg, Creatine Monohydrate 750mg, Creatine HCl 250mg, Creatine-AAB (Alpha Amino-Butyrate) 250mg,    elevATP 75mg – Beta-Alanine is a well known ingredient in pre-workouts, as it increases muscle endurance but the clinical dose of  beta alanine is ranging from 3g to 6g, which makes the 800 mg in this blend totally ineffective. Even if you take two scoops. The 3 types of creatine are again for muscle endurance and increasing strength but the total of all 3 types is just 1250 mg, and the clinical dose of creatine is 3-5g a day. Once again MHP missed on the dose. Elev ATP helps improve athletic performance and increase power output and training volume but the 750 mg in here is half the dose that Elev ATP’s effect was researched with. Noticing a pattern here…?

Legendary Muscle Pump Matrix 652.5mg – L-Citrulline 500mg, L-Norvaline 100mg, Spectra 50mg – L-Citrulline is a well researched ingredient that is known to increase pumps and muscular endurance but again, the clinical dose is 3-6g, so the effect of it in this product is not guaranteed at all. The other two ingredients are not really scientifically proven, but supposed to increase Nitric Oxide but we can’t really be sure if they work.

The Label’s Bottom Line- with pretty much everything in this label so under dosed, we don’t have high expectations for the Reckless. MHP really missed with their claim of “clinically dosed”.

HANDS ON EXPERIENCE

Taste & Mixability – Both flavors are just average as we have tasted much better pre-workouts. The mixability was ok.

Effectiveness – Just like the label suggests, the Reckless doesn’t really do it’s job. Not a big surprise here. With so many quality pre workouts out there, Reckless was a real disappointment.

VALUE FOR MONEY & DEAL HISTORY

You can find the MHP Reckless for as low as 20$ for a 30 servings tub and for about $15 each on a BOGO.

FINAL VERDICT

In two words – just don’t. There are much much better pre-workouts that would have a much better effect than MHP’s Reckless. Don’t waste your time on this one.
