If you were looking for that one last reason to start supplementing with Beta Alanine, then this just might be it. Take a look at this summary of the research results published in the Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition.
The research on this Amino Acids was performed in Israel a group of elite Israeli defense forces soldiers during their combat training. During the month of the research, the participants were supplementing with 6 grams of Beta Alanine. The research concluded that the soldiers that consumed the extra Beta Alanine considerably improved both their marksmanship and jump power (that’s right, both mental and physical improvements).
The experiment was performed with 20 male soldiers. The subjects were given 6 g beta-alanine daily for four weeks, or a placebo. The soldiers had to complete a set of trials that involved 2.6 mile running, followed by five countermovement jumps, a 120-metre sprint, target shooting and finally mental arithmetic (Before and after the experiment period).
Though the supplement had no effect on the sprint times. The soldiers that had taken beta-alanine did develop more power per lb. bodyweight during the countermovement jumps than the soldiers that had been given a placebo.
Also, when the soldiers had to shoot after the sprint, not only did they shoot faster, the beta-alanine group also scored more hits than the placebo group.
Beta Alanine is available in meats such as beef, chicken and turkey. Yet as the research shows, supplementing with extra Beta Alanine can help both mental and physical performance.
