If you are a traditional pre-workout supplement brand and you haven’t yet launched a ‘fully dosed’ hardcore pre-workout, well you are going to have a problem. Feeling the pressure from newcomers and hardcore niche operators, ‘old’ brands like Dymatize, MusclePharm and now GAT are releasing new full dose pre-workout products to stay competitive. And yes, it brings in a whopping 27g serving size! That is I believe a new record. In this comprehensive GAT Psychon review we will try to figure out if GAT delivers enough to ‘join the club’.
Pumps & N.O
8.2g of citrulline – Seems like every month someone will add even more citrulline to a pre-workout. With Dymatize PRE W.O the current record holder with 8g of citrulline, GAT is bringing in an interesting mix of 4.1 grams of Pure Citrulline and then 4.1 grams of Citrulline Malate. Funky…I am not sure what’s behind this mix but it is what it is 🙂
Endurance & Muscle Power
3.2 Beta-Alanine: ok, right on point! 3.2g of beta-alanine is what considered the ‘clinical’ dosage for this lactic acid fighter and endurance ingredient.
6g BCAA: Interesting decision here to mix BCAA into a pre-workout. The premise, of course, is getting the muscle building & recovery qualities of BCAA even before you start damaging these muscle in the gym
3g Creapure (Creatine Monohydrate) – Well, creatine, you know, increase ATP and muscle power. Proven, Ok dosage, I am not sure I like creatine in my pre-workout but its there
Energy & Focus
350mg Caffeine – no need for further introductions here I hope. This is a hefty scoop of caffeine, but as this is the only stimulant in this pre-workout it probably has to be there in this amount
500mg Choline + 500mg L-Orthinine – this is the focus blend here, 2 well-researched ingredients, though not really fully dosed to the levels we are now used to
GAT PSYCON will launch in 3 flavors: Pina Colada, Fruit Punch, and Watermelon. Come on…Fruit Punch? WHY?! 🙂 Anyway Pina Colada sounds great for a pre-workout.
Well, honestly, I am not super impressed. I am not seeing any Psycho(n) in this GAT product. The energy & focus blend is really basic and I doubt it will make you feel anything special compared to other basic pre-workout. GAT decided to put all the emphasis on the endurance and muscle power elements, following QUAKE 10.0 which is very reminiscent of QUAKE 10.0 which we reviewed a few months ago. But I have to say that if you decide to go that route than QUAKE 10.0 is probably a better option.
